Hot Spot Vs. Ring Worm

The 95 Theses of October 31, 1517 - Part 1

Evidence For Creation

One of the greatest figures of history is the reformer Martin Luther (1483-1546). It is known as the founder of the Protestant Reformation, the beginning of the famous movement which marked the separation between those who wanted to worship God truly and freely, and those who clung to myths and inventions to keep the captive people calling themselves representatives of Christ on earth. Nothing could be farther from reality. Luther, but it became part of that despotic institution at some point in his life, failed to see the truth by studying the Bible and realized that she had been on the wrong side. That's when he began his struggle to follow God or follow men.

was said to be a great student, a great talker and debater, very sociable and a good musician, graduated in a remarkably short time at the University of Erfurt. In 1505, suddenly decided to enter a monastery. Monje exemplary, and extremely religious, practiced all forms of fasting and floggings, and invented new ones. For two years he endured, as he said, "such anguish that no pen can describe."

One day in 1508, while reading the Epistle to the Romans, soon came to light and peace: "The just shall live by faith." He saw at last, that salvation is received through faith in God through Christ, not by rites, sacraments and penance the Church. This changed his whole life, and the whole course of history. "Even though their finding was unnecessary priestly church he noticed it immediately." Still accepted all the usages of the Church: Mass, relics, indulgences, pilgrimages, and the papal hierarchy. In 1508 he became professor at the University of Wittenherg, a position he held until his death in 1546. In 1511 he went to Rome, and though appalled by the corruption and vices of the papal court, still accept the authority of that Church. He returned to Wittenberg, where his sermons on the Bible began to attract students from all over Germany.

After his return from Rome, received Luther University in Wittenberg the degree of doctor of theology. Thus had more freedom than before to devote himself to the Scriptures, that he loved. Had made a solemn vow to study carefully and to preach with fidelity and life the Word of God, not the sayings and teachings of the popes. Would not be in future a mere monk or professor, but authorized the herald of the Bible. He had been called as pastor to shepherd the flock of God which was hungry and thirsty for the truth. Stated firmly that Christians should not support more doctrines which they had support in the authority of the Scriptures. These words were undermining the foundations on which rested the supremacy papal. Containing the vital principles of the Reformation. {CS54}

Rome Similarly using certain tricks to exploit the fears and vices of her adherents. This was the doctrine of indulgences. To all who enlisted in the wars he undertook the Pope to extend his temporal dominion, to punish their enemies or kill those who dare to deny his spiritual supremacy, was granted full remission of sins past, present and future, and remission of all penalties and deserved punishment. It also taught people that through payments made to the church was free from sin and also free the souls of his friends deceased delivered to the flames of purgatory. By such means did Rome fill her coffers and gave the magnificence, luxury and vices of those who claimed to be representatives of Him who had nowhere to lay his head. {63.2}

The occasion of Luther's break with Rome was the sale of indulgences by John Tetzel. An indulgence was a decrease in pain of purgatory, that is, a remission of punishment for sin. According to Roman teaching, purgatory is quite similar to hell, but that does not last long, but everyone has to go through it (in fact, neither really exist, are human inventions unscriptural). But the Pope claimed to have power to reduce their suffering or to refer them all, as his exclusive prerogative.

This began with the Popes Paschal I (817-24) and John VIII (872-82). Criminal indulgences were extremely lucrative, and soon were in general use. Offered as an inducement to the Crusades and the wars against heretics or against any king who wanted to punish the Pope. For the inquisitors who brought firewood to burn a heretic who made a pilgrimage to Rome or to promote any public or private enterprise of the Pope, or in exchange for money. Pope Sixtus IV, l476, was the first to apply to souls in purgatory and indulgences were recruited wholesale for resale "This" sell the privilege to sin "became a major source of papal income. In 1517 he toured Germany John Tetzel selling certificates signed by the pope, who offered to buyers and their friends the forgiveness of sin without confession, repentance, penance and priestly absolution.

the people said, "As soon as your money in the coffer rings, the souls of your friends will rise from purgatory to heaven." This horrified Luther. So, the October 31, 1517, Luther posted on the church door in Wittenberg 95 theses, most of which were related to indulgences, but that basically attacked the authority papal. was only an announcement that he was willing to discuss these issues at the university. But the prints are feverishly sought throughout Europe. That turned out to be "the spark that flames rose in Europe." Continued treaty after treaty, Latin for the German scholars and common people. Already in 1520, Luther was the most popular man in Germany.

"I am ready to preach, argue and write, but no constrain, because faith is a voluntary act. Remember everything I've done. Pope confronts me, I fought the indulgences and the papists, but no violence, no riots. I stated clearly the Word of God preached and wrote, this is all I did. And yet, while I slept. . . who had preached the word hit the papacy as never hurt any prince or emperor. And yet I did nothing, the Word did it all alone. Had I appealed to force, the soil of Germany may have been awash with blood. But what would have been the result? The ruin and destruction of soul and body. I therefore stand still, and let the word spread throughout the length and breadth of the earth. " - Ibid. {CS54} 201.1

So while many are struggling to divert attention from this historic day to other festivals and activities, the fact is that history does not lie, and lie until then we will remember October 31 as the day when brave sided with the truth, and enlisted under the banner of Christ, regardless of the consequences .

"Fear not, for I am with thee: be not dismayed, for I am your God I will strengthen thee, yea, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand." (Isaiah 41:10)
